SKEPTICS VIEWS

We have put together a little section here, offering a skeptics point of view on the alleged paranormal, we ask that you have a good read as all things mentioned here are known to be possible and do very often occur, and are sometimes the answer for what we have perceived to be paranormal. As investigators these are the types of questions we have to consider during an investigation before we look at the possible paranormal reasons.

HOMEPAGE or INVESTIGATIONS PAGE

FALSE AWAKENING

Its an experience in which a person believes he or she has woken up and believes they are doing something as if they are awake, but in fact is still actually asleep and dreaming despite feeling like what their experiencing is real. People who have experienced this often believe they may have seen a ghost, and this is one explanation offered to people who make such a claim.

HYPNOGOGIC & HYPNOPOMPIC

Hypnagogic was coined by a French psychologist LF Alfred Maury in the 19th-century, and it comes from the two Greek words, Hypnos (sleep) and Agogeus (guide, or leader). Some years later, Psychical Researcher FWH Myers coined a complimentary term, Hypnopompic, to cover similar phenomena occurring as we wake from sleep. It has also been known by the names: the ‘borderland state’, the ‘half-dream state’and the ‘pre-dream condition’.

The Hypnogogic state is when we start to get drowsy and about to fall asleep our imagination is at its most creative and we start to hear noises, see things such as people, landscapes or places, we are not awake nor asleep, for most of us these are not real images just our imagination, you have to remember our thinking side of the brain has been busy all day filtering reality from the non reality, keeping our imagination under control, so as we are about to sleep and the thinking brain is at rest our imagination is still wide awake, it's here the imagination runs wild giving us these images and noises, however many mediums have recorded these images and found that what they are getting are messages from spirit to give to someone they are about to meet, some of these messages are true and exact, which leaves us to ask the question if its true that anyone can be trained to be a medium are we all having Psychic dreams!

The Hypnopompic state is after we have slept and awaking but not back to full consciousness, the same as above occurs with the noises and images.

ORBS

The Orb phenomenon has increased dramatically since the introduction of Digital imagery, and their increasing appearance on TV however there is an explanation for most of these, Dust, Moisture or Water droplets, the main problem with digital cameras is how close the flash is to the lens the slightest bit of moisture will be illuminated pretty brightly in front of the screen giving us a false perception that an orb is in the room, it can also be small reflections, remember that Paranormal Investigators work mainly in the dark or very low light situations, therefore the bounce caused by the flash onto the slightest reflective source within the area will create an orb. They are even more likely to appear outside as even in warm dry conditions there is moisture in the air.

PSYCHOKINESIS

The ability to will events to actually happen, to bring a visualization into a reality, a power of mind to effect matter, mostly reported in Poltergeist activity, it is believed the person affected is actually the one who makes objects move and not the ghost, as it is believed to be our own unconscious mind causing things to happen, more easily explained as the same technique used in spoon bending Uri Geller has perfected the art and is well known for his spoon bending tricks, it's mind over matter.

SPONTANEOUS PHENOMENA & SCIENCE

What is Spontaneous Phenomena, simply it is the phenomena that occurs with no discernible pattern and which are therefore often investigated after the event rather than during.

A Scientists principles demand that any experiment be able to be repeated, but the logic therefore is Ghosts should be predictable and appear to order, now clearly this is not the case with S.P so what gives scientists institutions any right to say it's unreal, it is clear then that it's existence or non existence is still unproved, we know there is no scientific proof to say it exists but there is also no proof to say it doesn't exist.

Paranormal means that which cannot be explained by Scientific means, it is out of the 'norm' which is why we use scientific equipment to try and help us prove it exists, but if we are investigating something that is out of the norm, then scientific equipment we have at our disposal currently may not be of help to us, but also think of it this way, if we did find the correct equipment and we could prove the existance then it would no longer be paranormal..

There is still a need for the equipment we use as it is based on measure we know to be normal, it allows us then to take readings in an alleged haunted location, and from the readings we can determine if they are a known natural source, if the reading is outside that which we know as normal, it doesn't prove it has to be paranormal, just something we have not yet learned about, it gives an indication it may be paranormal but there is still no exact answer, so the equipment is still plays an important role in the investigations, as there are many theories what the measures we get may be.. By then watching for regular unusual recordings being familiar at different locations, we can submit these readings to the scientists in order of gaining a closer understanding.

TABLE TIPPING / TABLE TILTING

A Victorian parlour game believed to be a way of communicating with spirits. Whilst a lot of teams have had some success with this there are explanations for why the table moves or lifts slightly, again PK is believed to be the answer for this, using the power of mind and willing so hard for the table to move is caused by the person or persons taking part in the experiment. The same applies in glass divination, although it is possible to commit fraud much easier with the glass than the table as your fingers are placed directly on top of the glass, skeptics also accept that maybe the people involved in the experiment are not always doing this on purpose but are responsible, and it is then explained as subconscious fraud.

THOUGHTOGRAPHY GHOSTS ON FILM!

In 1964 a man called Ted Serios claimed it was possible to photograph a thought, he performed tests under Dr Julie Eisenbud, he pointed the camera (a Polaroid) at himself and took photos, he got lots of pictures of himself, some blacked out prints but some printed scenes from London and Venice.

So is it possible that someone produced a thought so strong it appeared on the cameras film and is it possible to do this with another device!

This is also thought as a possible explanation for E.V.P's that maybe it is not spirits voices but again our own thoughts projecting onto the tape, it's the same with PK (psychokinesis) the power of the mind is so strong it can be used to move objects.

So okay lets say we accept these things are possible in life, then is it also possible when we are dead! When we die we leave only the physical matter (the body) behind but our Soul / Spirit can continue to live on at another level, the spirit is known As the nonphysical, it is also believed that we take our personality and even retain our memory, so if we can project a thought be it Audible or Visual when we are alive then why not once we have passed!

So during an investigation the person who projects the image of the ghost or the voice phenomena, is believed to be the investigator so desperate for the proof..
