23.00hrs We then went on a guided tour of the building starting in the cellar and visiting each and every room. We asked Danni and Lana at this point just to show us each room but not tell us which ones were considered to be hot spots and which were not. This was because we wanted to see what Angie and any other members felt about each room and if they felt anything in them. This would take 2 Hours due to the size of the building. We started by going into the Ball Room: Angie had asked to be taken to a room with Flowers in the decor, in the ballroom is a domed glass ceiling with Flowers in the glass. Whilst we were in here Angie said "all eyes are on me, I'm being watched from all angles, and I feel like I'm being judged for something" she tells us these are the feelings of a woman who is present in the room and gives us the name Mary. She feels the woman is very anxious. At the end of the night we were informed this room was used as a courtroom for some time.
23:40hrs We got to the first floor, the Hotel part as we made our way to the first room Angie tells us Robert is following us. We went to the first room (although the rooms are numbered, we have decided to give each room a letter) Room A. Angie feels this room was used for abortions and the ladies were taken upstairs afterwards, Whilst we were in here Angie paced backwards and forwards and said she felt very anxious. Outside the room Alan and Tracey were also discussing the same, they both also felt abortions had taken place in this room. At the end of the night we were informed that the Hotel had been used for illegal abortions. Room B we didn't get anything at this stage. Room C Angie stood in the middle of the room, she looked towards the door and said she felt like the door would be slammed in her face. We was told by the guides this has happened to one of them. Angie also felt a Louie present and said he shouldn't be mistaken for Louis, (we were not sure what this meant at the time, but we were later informed another group who investigated here previously had picked up on a Louis). Angie also feels when people have been in the rooms on this floor, they have heard footsteps outside in the corridor, again we were told this happens regular. As we were about to leave the room she also picks up on a little girl Sally, "she is one of two little girls" then she says the corridor gets very busy. Room D Alan picks up on the name Gerald, Angie says "1673, some kind of celebration" just then Angie turns and says a lady has entered the room, but it was residual and nothing to go with it. We then went to Room E As we entered Angie holds her throat and says a Malevolent spirit comes in here, Alan also feels the same it was if they were being choked / strangled. Angie also felt suicide, we were told later one room is known as suicide room. Room F Angie and Alan get the name Kathleen and that this is not a room people would have slept in peacefully. There is a menacing presence that comes in here, it is not here now but it does come in and out frequently. There is also a little boy who comes in this room as does Sally and the other little girl, she describes her as having long blonde hair but it is not a bright blonde, she also feels that this little girl can communicate when she feels like it. As she turns towards Tracey she says there is a man next to Tracey, who is holding her side, and is getting a very sharp pain as if she has been prodded with something. Angie also says that people will see shadows in the hallway. Angie can hear something being moved around above us on wheels but not sure yet what it is. Room G As we entered Angie, Chris, Tracey and Lana all feel like they want to leave the room, Chris and Tracey start to feel sick, almost feverish as they feel cold but are sweating. Chris becomes overwhelmed by the feeling and steps out of the room, Tracey gets the name Edward. Alan then gets a pain starting at the forehead and moving down into his left cheek and starts to feel sick. As we left the room Tracey sees a dark shadow move out of the hallway into one of the rooms.
00:10am We moved into another corridor were there are more rooms. No one picked anything up whilst in this area, so we moved to the Attic.
00:25am We went into the Attic, which was divided into three rooms, we made our way to the very end one. As we stood in here Chris and Tracey had stayed in the middle room both looking back towards the way we had entered, then they both saw a Lady standing holding the hand of a little girl, who appeared to be wearing a white nightdress, they describe the little girl as almost glowing brightly, The Lady was wearing some kind of Pinny, white blouse with what looked like a ruffled collar and she had black boots, As Tracey says the Lady is called Sarah and the girl Emma or Emily, they both suddenly vanished. In the other room no one appeared to be sensing anything except Richard who comments how calm he feels in here. Angie and Alan (who had stayed at the base of the stairs to the Attic with Lana) both feel the Abortions took place here too, and were both overwhelmed by the feelings. Angie comments "all the little ones, so sad". As we were leaving the Attic Alan informs us he and Lana had seen a figure move down the corridor to one of the rooms. We also believe we have caught what sounds like two child's voices on tape, but they are too hard to make out.
00:45am We stopped for a break before splitting into two Groups.
01:00hrs We split into two groups at this point to cover more areas, GROUP 1 (in this colour Text) Headed by Angie with Core Team Members Tracey, Alan, Chris S and David also present Danni, and GROUP 2 (in this colour Text) headed by Mark with Reserve Team Members David J, David, Michael, Alan and Richard, also present Lana.
01:00hrs GROUP 1 ATTIC AREA: The team made their way to the end room and sat on chairs, Angie says she wants to call out for Sarah (this is the same name Tracey and Chris had given me earlier for the Lady who was holding the little girls hand) Angie mentions Sarah has hidden something a Diary!, Chris says he gets an image of a Lady rummaging through a bag or something as if looking for something, he had an impression of a Diary in his mind. Tracey also mentions a diary. Angie feels there is a man also Charles he is connected to the lady. Angie then sees a little boy, it is the same boy as she saw on the first floor during the walkabout, he is pushing a toy, it looks like a dog, one that has a handle and wheels on it, (Angie had heard this earlier on the first floor, ROOM F saying it was coming from above). Angie comments yet again on all the children, she says "all the children who died here, they didn't reach the earth plain, there is lots and lots of kids" Both Angie and Alan mentioned prostitution, they felt the Hotel was also used as a secret house of ill repute twice, first time during the 1700's. The team continue to sit for a while, when Angie turns to Tracey and says the little girl is called Emily. She also picks up on John a womaniser, he was married but that didn't stop him, he liked his women. Then she explains that it is like a video being played on fast forward as little bits of information come in from all directions. Angie then starts to talk about Debt, there has been lots of it, and lots of managers / owners have left because of it, (we have found that William Arton during the 1800's was in court in Leeds for Bankruptcy). Tracey and Angie felt someone pass between them, Angie then talks about how someone had held a seance in the Hotel but hadn't protected themselves correctly, which allowed a low energy spirit to enter the building, Angie says that during the closing of the seance it was not done correctly. (There are stories to this effect, a medium visiting here one day and a previous investigation team had also picked up on this). Chris starts to feel very emotional whilst Danni feels very angry, the team decide to all swap seats. Tracey sits in Chris's chair, were she says she felt as though somebody wanted to punch her, Chris had the same feelings when he sat there, Alan commented he had an image of a woman being thrown to the floor by a very angry man. Tracey gets the name George and feels someone else is with him, but gets no name, Angie says she sees a flash of light when Tracey gives the name George, she says it was like he was there one minute then gone the next. (We believe a previous investigation team had picked up on this also, and it would appear George was one of many who died in a crash). Alan then picks up on a little boy who he feels is called Joshua, (Danni tells us a little boy with the initial J has been picked up a couple of times, but they have only been given his initial previously). As the team sat a little longer, Tracey started to feel as though she was in Labour and picks up on the name Anne, who was a young girl who was taken to the Hotel by her father for an abortion. Angie then asks who is Tute as she hears someone say the name, She can hear a lady saying it was Tute she also picks up on A charlotte Adams who was a maid here, (In 1822 and 1829 there is a John Tute registered at the Hotel). After Angie says that she says there a William also who was a very mean and spiteful man who treated people bad, Just then Angie, Alan and Dave all see something through the door to the next room, they saw a shadow move along the wall. Angie then sensed a Sarah and they decided to try glass divination.
Angie asks Danni has there been a Thomas here before as she senses he too comes and goes, (Danni says there is a spirit they call Tom, Yes). The team became aware little Joshua was present and tried to communicate with him by glass divination but he was to confused by it, and only moved the glass when they said his name, he was being cautious as well as he was not allowed in the Attic and often sneaked in here to play. The team decided to try the middle room.
02:25hrs. MIDDLE ROOM ATTIC: Chris starts to feel more uncomfortable the longer he stays in the Attic but stays. This is unusual for him to feel this way as normally he will go anywhere in the dark even on his own. Angie gets an image of soldiers standing watching and feels it may be connected to George (We believe a previous investigation team had picked up on this also, and it would appear George was one of many who died in a crash). Once again Angie sees a flash of light what represents a sudden departing. As the team set up for the seance Angie sees the image of a man who removes a wig and is dressed in black, she feels he is a judge, (as explained in the walkabout we were told at the end of the night, part of the hotel is believed to have been used as a court). They started glass divination..
Suddenly Oliver leaves and Angie says John is on his way upstairs, he is angry, (at this point on the camcorder the time is 02:40:03, interestingly Group 2's footage shows they were in a seance with John who left them at exactly 02:40:01, I have checked the camcorders and Group 2's is exactly 27 seconds faster than Group 1's). Angie describes him as a tall man, dark straight hair with solemn eyes, (again look at Group 2s description), the team stopped for a break at 02:50.
01:00hrs GROUP 2 BALL ROOM: We set up a camera on a tripod to leave in the room after we left, and two heat sensor lights, so that if something did go passed them it would be recorded on the camera. The room had lots of chairs in there so we sat down in a circle to see if anyone sensed or seen anything. Whilst we were sat still David J and Alan both felt their hearts pumping pretty fast, almost as if they felt anxious about something, (it was interesting as Angie had mentioned earlier on the walk around about Mary who felt Anxious). Although no one picked up on any names, there was several times feelings of being watched (again something Angie had mentioned on the walkabout) and some of the group feeling very icy blasts across their hands. At one point Richard saw some flickering of a light through one of the doors, but on closer inspection we realised it was from the security sensors. After 40 minutes we decided to try another area, but before we left David J placed a small ball on the floor which was in view of the camera on the tripod to see if would get moved.
01:40hrs We went downstairs to the READING ROOM to try some glass divination, we set up and all sat around the table, at first there was no response for about 20 minutes although once again different members felt breezes across their hands, Richard was constantly looking over his left shoulder as he felt he would see something, Alan again tried to call out and we noticed that although the glass didn't move around the table, Mark could see through the viewfinder of the camera that the Glass was constantly twisting, and it had been for the first 20 minutes also. Then suddenly to the question are you a male the Glass moved a good few inches, and then we asked more questions.
we then started to get answers that contradicted previous answers, Lana then asked if it was John as he had done this to them before on a previous investigation, Alan asked are you playing games with us and the glass moved suddenly, so we asked a few more questions when suddenly Mark saw a reflection of a man in the glass who appeared to be stood up and in between himself and Lana, the description of the man was "a tall man, dark straight hair with solemn eyes", (see above for Angies description in Group 1's seance as John arrives in the attic !) David J and Lana both said that their ears were burning almost on fire, shortly after that John left us, (on checking the tape the time was exactly 02:40:01, read above Group 1's report when John joins them at exactly 02:40:03, in the Attic). At 02:50hrs we stopped for a break. And checked the ball we left in the Ball room but it had not moved.
02:50 We stopped for a break and Danni and Lana swapped groups for the second part of the investigation.
03:50hrs GROUP 1 DOWNSTAIRS, BAR AREA AND READING ROOM:The team tried the bar area first, whilst they felt John was still present he wasn't communicating with them, after a short period both Alan and Angie sense a William, Angie describes him as being thrown out of the building, he was wanted by the authorities, and he was an angry man, she said he feels he is still in charge of the building, and he treated women bad. (Again this would tie in with William Arton who was in trouble with the authorities and was taken to the bankruptcy courts). The team sat a bit longer when Angie got the name Steven or Stephen who had been in a fight inside then outside the pub, he had spent the day at the race track and was spending his winnings. (We were told there is a race track near by). Chris and Angie both get the name Rose she was a cleaner here, also Angie picks up on another John not the same one in the Attic this is another John, then Angie makes the connection with the surname she had got in the Attic and says "Tute, this is John Tute" now she knows who he is. Things go very still and all the team comment on how calm the room feels so decide to try another area.
03:46hrs The team enter the Reading room to try some glass divination, they tried for 20 minutes with no responses until Angie talks about the Flowers again and Mary when the glass moves, they asked some questions and got little movement from the glass, and at 04:20 GROUP 2 joins them, at 04:30hrs The team stop for a summoning up (SEE BELOW AFTER GROUP 2's REPORT)
03:05hrs GROUP 2 : Danni and Lana also swapped which groups they were with. We went to the Attic and went straight to the middle room, David J placed a toy car on the floor, hoping the little boy might want to play with it. We decided to try glass divination, as we sat down Alan felt very anxious as Richard looked at him he said his appearance looked younger. Alan and Richard took turns calling out asking the spirit to move the glass, or make a sound or touch one of us, or even knock on something.
We tried a few more questions but nothing happened, so Danni called out a few names the other Group had but nothing happened, so we decided to try the 1st floor bedrooms.
03:40hrs We went to ROOM C and tried a Psychic circle, we stayed in the room 20 minutes but nothing happened at all, So we moved ROOM G, we all sat down and tried to soak up the atmosphere, all aware of some of the feelings some people had whilst on the walk around, we wanted to see if the same happened again. We all took turns at calling out and heard some strange noises during our time in here including a loud "Haa" but on watching the tapes back it cannot be heard nor any of the other sounds we heard, the atmosphere had completely changed and felt peaceful. So at 04:20hrs we went back to the READING ROOM to join the others to see if they were having any better luck.
04:30hrs The investigation came to an end and we packed up all the equipment. And had a summoning up of the night, and left at 05:00hrs.
Marks Final Thought: The Red Lion proved an interesting place, whilst one Group seemed to be having a lot go on the other Group had little happen. Overall everyone did enjoy the investigation and would all like to go back for another visit.
