The Plough Inn, in Scalby Village near Scarborugh was built in 1899 but was previously in the building next door, and was then known as The Plough Hotel. Scalby is mentioned in the Domesday book In 1086, when it formed part of the Kings manor of Falsgrave, it was a hunting ground up until 1267. It is reported that Scalby was also a mining village.
During our pre investigation meeting Angie gave the following information,
She sensed 1) the spirit of a man called Henry who had something to do with
the property roughly about 25 years ago, also 2) Albert a previous landlord
who was standing near the pool table watching, 3) there was also a black Labrador
dog sat with a fish in its mouth - the Labrador has been seen by staff and
several customers, who claim to have stepped over the dog and even bent down
down to stroke it, 4) there was also a black collie dog with an unusual white
stripe on its face - this hasn’t been confirmed, 5) also a little dog
a type of terrier although this has never been reported on the night of the
investigation Dave a member of staff seen it, 6) also Jack a young boy aged
roughly 7-9 yrs old who worked at The Plough and he is full of mischief -
Tracy confirms she has heard the little boy and sensed him, 7) a little girl
timid who had a problem with her leg - A little girl has been seen by someone
at The Plough but who’s name we cannot give, 8) There is also Mary aged
70 - 75 yrs who died on the top floor she was very arthritic and was trapped
here, a clearing would be needed to help - the room in question has been reported
as having a spirit in it, 9) also Angie sensed a reflection of a man in a
mirror who wore a naval uniform - a relative of the owners had previously
seen this. And lastly 10) she also seen 3 flashing lights around the bar area
- the 3 lights have been seen by staff and customers and has even been reported
that two customers watched the lights sort of dancing along the bar.
THE INVESTIGATION
present of A.G.H Angie, Mark (to be known as Mark 1), Wayne and Tracey, and
present from the pub were Landlord Mark (to be known as Mark 2), landlady
Tracy their son Daniel, also Tracy’s mum Janet, barman Dave and his wife
Helen.
23:00 We waited in the bar area until all the customers left the building,
we then brought in the equipment and proceeded to set up the C.C.T.V equipment
up in the dining room area of the pub.
23:30. we set up cam 1 in the pool area and cam 2 in the middle of the pub
directed towards the dining area.
00:00 we gave a demonstration of the equipment to all present.
00:33 we set up for a seance in the dining area in view of the C.C.T.V and
used handheld camera (cam 3) at the table were Tracey, Tracy, Jan and Helen,
we asked if there were any spirits present could they tip or tilt the table
for us, Angie sensed Jack was present and we asked Jack to do this for us,
for a period of 12 minutes the table was moving although only slightly it
can be clearly seen on the video footage, plus others not at the table reported
seeing one leg raise of the floor. It stopped at 00:45
00:50 we tried again but this time at the table were Tracy, Mark 2, Daniel
and Dave, during the seance we asked again for spirit to come forward and
communicate the table vibrated only so we asked for a tapping or rapping sound
to be made, just behind the table was a fireplace with ornaments on it, one
of these was tapped on all present clearly heard it, on watching the video
footage and despite everyone in the room being seated footsteps can clearly
be heard.
00:55 Dave left the table and Wayne took his place, Angie sensed a presence
and gave a name this was known to someone at the table we are withholding
this information out of respect. Again we could all hear the tapping. And
Dave felt as if someone was stood by him who said "why don’t you
all just p!!s off" at 01:05 things seemed to stop. Angie gave the name
John William, it appears the pubs first landlord was called John William Crosier.
01:11 we tried one more time at another table this time using a glass, with
Mark 2, Daniel, Janet and Tracey, we asked spirit to move the glass for a
yes and leave the glass still for no.
Is there anyone present YES, are you Jack YES, are you happy here YES, do
you like being here YES, suddenly Jack stepped back as a relative came forward,
Angie gave a name the same as earlier and questions commenced the glass responded,
Due to the sensitivity of this we will not place the information on the website
as this was a very personal experience for one person at the table. This continued
until 01:40
01:40 to 02:15 we stopped for a break and made our way upstairs.
02:26 we started the clearing Angie sensed Mary was present but very nervous
but the spirit of Arthur and Thomas relatives to Mary both came through in
support, She asked for our help which we were happy to do so, on watching
the video footage at 02:30 the camera has picked up an elderly ladies voice
saying"Help" we started the a seance using the glass to gain her
trust at 02:45
02:45 3 tapping sounds could be heard and we asked, are you happy to communicate
YES, have you been here a long time YES, are you in pain YES, have you been
stuck in this room for a long time YES, can you see the light YES, do you
want to move on into the light YES (she told Angie but im scared) do you want
to take your book with you YES, Thomas is there in the light do you know him
YES, do you want some help to go into the light YES, Tracy spoke we will look
after the room for you, Mary commenced to tell Angie I see the little girl
colouring in her book you know, she then gave Angie some information regarding
the present family what she sees them doing, this was her way to confirm she
was really there, the information was confirmed, we then proceeded to help
her go to the light, as she did everyone in the room said they felt the room
lift. We recorded the E.M.F which gave a reading of just over 4. we finished
in the room at 03:40
we then went downstairs to the bar area to discuss what happened and to go
over the nights events, at 03:50 all cameras were switched off and we ended
the investigation..
The locked of cameras 1+2 have been thoroughly checked and we seem to have caught some footsteps, a cough, a door opening or closing sound and other sounds we cannot distinguish all while we were upstairs..
