THE INVESTIGATION:
20:00hrs. Chris rang us with the
postcode to put in the Sat Nav for the location, He asked Angie had she sensed
anything about tonight's location, Angie said to him there is a man there
who shows me an image of a duck! the rest of the team sat in the car find
this funny FOR NOW. (The train the Mallard got its name
when Nigel Gresley was feeding ducks at Salisbury Hall).
21:00hrs. The Investigation started
and as it did, Angie had picked up on two people one was a female, a cleaner
and the other a man named John who she said worked for the Postal Service,
she made her way towards a carriage she felt connected to the man, this was
a TPO carriage, which means Travelling Post Office. It is important to point
out here that neither Angie or myself had ever been to the museum before,
so Angie would not have known where it was located in the Museum but headed
straight for it. As she arrives she says she gets chest pains with him, as
she is about to walk up the steps onto the platform she turns and says "there
is another man here watching us called Herbert and
he is connected to the duck"! (Nigel
Gresleys real name was Herbert). As she says this Jazz heard someone
go onto the steps and then Mark and Andy both see the outline of a man go
into the TPO from the platform, we followed him and as we entered the TPO
wagon Andy seen his outline move to the bottom of the carriage. Angie again
senses John and says she gets chest pains with him, she feels his death was
due to a heart condition and says it was blood clots. And he still thinks
he is alive, she says he is Grounded here and is responsible for a lot of
activity. Tracey says she has been feeling chest pains too and light headed.
As the team leave the TPO Mark and Jazz both witness the outline of a man
at the back end of the platform behind the TPO and follow him but he disappears,
as they stand behind the Train next to the TPO both they, Tracey, Andy and
Mike all hear a sound coming from the drivers cab as if someone entered it.
Just then both Mark and Jazz see someone move down the hall between two trains
towards the turntable and head off after him, Jazz follows him directly and
Mark makes his way on the other side of the train to head him off, luckily
they feel as he turns to Marks direction but Mark and Jazz meet at the front
end of the train and no one is there. As they look around rather puzzled they
see him again on the other side of the turntable moving between another two
trains and they are in pursuit once again.
Meanwhile back at the TPO Angie is explaining to Chris, that if someone was
to mess things up inside of the TPO John would become very upset as he likes
it very tidy in there. So they set up some trigger objects inside the TPO
(see photos
page) and placed a motion sensor light up. We were informed later
by Tom staff member at the museum that they have experienced Poltergeist Activity
in there. They then joined the rest of the team who had now joined in the
search of the elusive figure running between trains near the turntable after
Steph, Tracey, Mike and Andy had also witnessed the figure move around.
As they all look around Mike then sees a woman he describes as being a short
and thin lady, with black hair, she had what appeared to be a white pinny
or overall on, she had moved pretty quickly and he was unable to tell us anymore
other than he felt she was a cleaner. Which then Chris, Claire and Andy all
smell perfume. Angie and Tracey both see a figure in the distance behind Chris
who is facing them both, but at the same time he seen someone move from the
TPO towards another train The Mallard which he was facing. So they made their
way back towards the Mallard, whilst others went to investigate what the girls
had seen. As they headed back walking alongside the Mallard train Angie stops
and says she knows who Herbert is now, his surname is Gresley, he has another
name too she says, and after a pause says Nigel, his name is Herbert Nigel
Gresley, (Sir Nigel Gresley was indeed called Herbert)
she then tells us a memorial link connected to him comes to her and she sees
a date flash in front of her, she only saw three numbers clear 193 and was
unsure if the fourth number was 6 or 7. (In 1937 a train
was named in his honour the Sir Nigel Gresley). Angie then says was
he Scottish and named after his dad also Nigel who is connected to the cloth,
(Indeed his father was called Reverand Nigel Gresley,
and Sir Nigel was born in Edinburgh Scotland).
22:14hrs. We made our way to another
part of the museum through the shop area and towards the old platform. As
we walked towards the toilets Angie senses a man she says is George his surname
begins with E, he places an image of a portrait in her mind that she feels
he is very proud of, he will give her more information on this later she says.
(See further down on this when all is made clear).
We made our way to some carriages on one of the platforms called the Wagons-lIts
night ferry, a French sleeping car. We entered the carriage Angie made her
way down the corridor and into a compartment she was drawn too, there is a
man and a woman in here, Angie and Chris both sit down in the compartment,
Angie tells Chris the lady is directly behind him and she feels Anxious around
this woman, Chris says as he entered the carriage he felt scared for some
reason. Angie then says another lady is present called Margaret, she was a
cleaner and loved being on the train. Angie tells us if we try knocking on
the walls one of the ladies will be able to do it back. Mark then leaves the
train as we all saw a man walk along the platform outside the carriage. Angie
asks if Montreux means anything.
(It is possible the train passed through Montreux Switzerland
as Wagon-Lits operated a service from France to Switzerland). The team
then tried some knocking on the wall to see if they could get a response.
Meanwhile on the platform Mark was following a man towards the Royal Carriages
when Andy seen him and left the French Carriage to head him off, sadly once
again we were eluded by him as he crossed through an engine walkspace and
headed to the far corner. Soon they where joined by Jazz who had also now
seen the figure through another of the windows, they then followed him into
the same far corner before he disappeared for good. Mark had seen a man wearing
a Top Hat and Tail Coat, he kept the description to himself at this time in
the hope someone else would see the same.
Back in the French carriage Angie could smell tobacco and Chris had started
to feel really ill, so they left the Carriage.
23:00hrs. Tom a member of staff
from the museum came and joined us, and Angie told him about the George E
she got earlier and now says his name is Earl, Tom tells us this is interesting
and will talk to us later about it.
The team made their way over to the Royal Carriages as Andy and Jazz had seen
someone walking inside one of the carriages, but where unable to tell us if
it was male or female, (Tom told us they have experienced
this several times at the museum now).
As we walked along the platform Angie says she senses two more males called
Robert and Henry one is a teenager, Henry is the teenager. As we continued
to work our way around the Royal Carriages, Chris turns to Patrick and asks
did he say "HELLO" as he heard
an hello in his ear, but it was not Patrick, at the same time further down
the platform Chris sees a woman in white, he thought may have been a wedding
dress as she was so far ahead and Chris is struggling to see properly. Patrick
comments how the atmosphere feels very heavy in this area. Angie approaches
Chris and says there is a woman in a white gown called Catherine on the platform
but it is a residual energy and is unable to gain anymore information for
her. As we spoke to Chris about what he had heard and seen, Jazz, Andy and
Mike headed off to the end of the platform, they called out several times
to see if they could get a response from Robert but nothing happened so they
tried calling out to Henry as they do they all hear a "HELLO"
so they ask for more, very clearly and it can be heard on the video footage
some rather strange loud knocks on the side of the engine, the footage also
shows all three are not close enough to the engine to have done it themselves.
MIDNIGHT: Whilst Chris talks to Tom, Alex points out that when he had walked
in the area where the lads are he felt threatened for some reason but could
not put his finger on why, Just then Jazz rejoins us to explain that he and
Andy and Mike had all heard the same as Chris, an "HELLO"
when they had called for Henry. We decided we would all go back into that
area to see if anymore could be gained. However when we did more events would
begin to unfold. As we stood talking, a male figure appeared at the top of
the ramp looking down towards us, Angie, Mark and Chris all see this, Mark
recognises the man he had seen earlier on the platform, He turns away from
us and once again wanders off into the darkness. This time the whole team
are in full pursuit. Once again the man headed to the same far corner, Angie
described seeing a man in a Top Hat and Tail Coat fitting the same description
as Mark had seen. Once we reached the corner we lost site of him again, but
Angie felt he moved down another ramp leading away from the corner. So we
followed her down there.
Angie says it was George again trying to get our attention. Just then Tom
points out we have just walked near to two portraits that George had painted
called GOING NORTH and COMING SOUTH. (George
Earl (18241908) was a painter, primarily of sporting dogs and other
animals. Going North and Coming South - Two pictures commissioned by Sir Andrew
Barclay Walker of the Walker Brewery, the paintings are bustling narrative
works depicting railway station life. Now owned by the National Railway Museum
they were rescued in 1990 from a Liverpool pub (The Vines in Lime Street).
And they are now exhibited at the Museum) also
there is a story about George Earl and his paintings on a board below them
and a Photo of George in his later years but not in the attire we had seen
him, but a search on the Internet has led us to a portrait of him in the same
exact attire we saw him, please click this link and take a look at the photo.
GEORGE
EARL PORTRAIT. George had told Angie he often comes in visitation to see
his paintings of which he is so proud and she says he is almost like a tour
guide himself trying to direct people to them.
01:00hrs. We then went back to the Wagon-Lits after an emotional tale from Angie regarding George Earl. Angie and Chris re enter the compartment from earlier, Alex made his way to the very end of the carriage, as he stood there he could smell tobacco. Angie is sat down and starts to feel very headachey and stands up, Patrick then takes Angie's place and sits next to Chris. Angie had felt an icy breeze around them and Chris says he has pains down his right side in his arms and legs and that his mouth feels numb. Angie feels that one of the ladies not Margaret the other lady had a stroke. Patrick says he had a funny sensation in his right arm but more like it had become heavy. Just then we all heard several very loud audible knocks on the compartment wall in the room next door which was empty. Angie and Alex went into the room next door whilst Chris called out to see if we could find out who it was. Angie then tells us she gets the name Franciné a French lady and she was the lady who had the stroke. Then Angie asks what is Comment (something she could not hear properly) Vous this may have been comment sont vous which means How are you. As she hears this being said to hear. Chris then introduces himself to Franciné, "Je m'appelle Christopher" (My name is Christopher) "sont vous bien" (are you okay) Angie replied "Oui" (yes) Chris asks "sont vous Franciné" (are you Francine) Angie replies "Je suis" (I am). We then heard a series of knocks again. (Please excuse if I have misspelt any words here as I do not know any French and had to check these out after the Investigation). During all of this Alex said he could feel an real icy breeze across the middle of his legs, Steph and Tracey stood outside the compartment door and could not feel any breezes go past them. We continued to see if we got any more knocks but sadly nothing else happened. And we moved on.
01:30hrs. We went back to the main hall. After about five minutes Angie gave me the name Ethel and said it is connected to Nigel Gresley again but no more on this (It was during a spell as locomotive foreman at Blackpool in 1899, that Sir Nigel Gresley met the lady who was later to become his wife, Miss Ethel Frances Fullagar). We set up for a Séance for the last 20 minutes but during this time nothing at all happened, and then the Investigation came to a close.
02:00hrs Investigation ended.
FINAL THOUGHT: Overall the investigation was very interesting, The team experienced an awful lot here, Angies connection with George was one we will never forget.
