Investigation at Maynard Arms Carlin How Cleveland, Present from AGH were Angie, Mark, Alan, Chris S, Jazz and Steph.

We arrived at Midnight and spent the first part of the investigation on an initial walk around and setting up equipment, As we had a walk around Angie became aware of a little boy near the door in the main bar area towards the toilets, she said he was about 7 or 8 years of age, she said he lived here and had died of a chest complaint. Alan who had been here on a night out had seen a little boy and it is his relative who is Landlady of the Maynard Arms. Angie, Jazz, Steph and Alan all heard what they described as a voice belonging to a little boy. We placed a camcorder (Cam 3) on a tripod on top of the bar recording the whole area where the pool table is situated. We also set up a couple of voice recorders (Recorder 1 and 2) in the main bar area where Angie, Jazz, Steph and Alan had heard the voices. Angie was on digital camera, Mark was on Cam 1 and Jazz on Cam 2, Chris held the EMF, Steph was on Digital Camera and Temperature Readings, and Alan was free for other duties.

01:00hrs. As we were stood in the Main Bar area about to go into the pool room, Angie says she saw a quick glimpse of a man walking towards the pool table, she described him as having a bald head and wearing a white shirt, she could not see his trousers due to the height of the bar, as we started to make our way through the door into the corridor to the pool room, both Angie and Alan said the name Joseph, Angie felt this was the man she had seen in the pool area, Jazz stayed in the main bar recording on Camera 2 into the pool room until we entered, he then come to join us. As he stood still he said he felt an electric current was running through him. Angie can still sense Joseph in the room but she also senses a lady who has come in called Elsie and she feels she is connected to Joseph. As we stayed in the area Angie said she could sense a pretty bad fight that happened and a man that was covered in blood, She said this happened in the 70's and gave us a name but we will be leaving the name off due to privacy reasons. Alan had picked up on a local man called Walter (surname was given but we are having to withhold it) he had something to do with the war and pigeons, Alan could feel a horrible taste in his mouth with this man, we have found out from a local that Walter was a soldier and had been gassed in the war and he originally trained pigeons.Angie then started to talk about other things connected to the pub and some local families which both Alan and Chris could confirm for us being from the area, but to the delicacy of these we will not place them here. Things went quiet for a little while and whilst we were discussing things Steph turned and looked through the bar back towards the main bar area and says she saw what appeared to be a little boys head peeping over the bar looking at us. She only got a quick glimpse of him as he moved instantly. As this happened Angie heard a boys voice and so did Jazz who went over to take a look but found nothing.

01:30hrs. We decided to go down into the cellar to take a look around, Angie says she heard the names Thomas then William but does not hear anything else and does not know what they mean yet and nothing else came of this. I have found that in 1890 a Thomas William Wood was in charge at the Maynard, it could have meant this. We then walked around the cellar to see if anything else happened, it was very quiet for a time until Angie could hear a band passing by, playing, she thought at first due to the style of music it may have been the Sally Army but then she got a mental image of local miners. The local mine which we have investigated many times did have their own band, Alan tells us the band did march playing and often walked past the pub. Nothing else came in the cellar and as we were about to go back up the steps, we stopped to decide were to go next. Alan turned to Jazz and said "where" Jazz a little surprised looked at Alan and replied "where what". Alan had thought Jazz had said over there and asked where, as in over where. Jazz denied saying anything and Mark who was stood between them agreed Jazz had said nothing!

01:50hrs. We went back upstairs to the main bar area as we were going up the steps Jazz heard an "Hmm" in his ear but no one was about him. We talked About where Angie had seen the little boy. And Angie stood for a bit listening and Both she Steph and Jazz heard a little chuckle. We stood in that spot for 15 minutes but nothing else happened.

02:15hrs. We stopped for a break and to take time to change the tapes in the cams. We went into the kitchen to get a drink and then come back, Angie, Steph, Jazz and Alan left the kitchen through the door back into the main bar area closing the door behind them, Mark and Chris went through the door into the pool room as Chris was telling Mark some things he knew about the pub. Mark shut the door gently as we knew this one banged with Chris watching him. After 17 minutes we rejoined the team via the corridor between the two rooms. As we entered the main bar and sat with the others, Mark comments "how long has that door been open" meaning the door from the pool room to the kitchen, Angie, Steph and Jazz said it had been open for ages they noticed it open when they sat down, Alan commented he had seen Mark shutting the door as he was stood at the bar watching, Mark and Chris were both surprised as we all knew for certain no one had gone back in the kitchen, plus the cams that were placed on the tables and left on record also show no one had gone back in !!

02:45hrs. As we were about to continue Chris and Jazz both saw a small black shadow through the doorway to the toilets, the same spot Angie had seen the little boy at the beginning as Mark moved cam 1 to point at it a blackness appears to move across the wall blackening out the light cast by the nightshot. We left the cam on a table pointing in the direction whilst we went through the doorway to see if we could see anything that may have caused it, finding nothing that could have. After spending some 15 minutes checking the whole area and trying to work out what it was the team wanted to try some Glass Divination.

03:00hrs. We spent an half hour attempting to communicate through Glass Divination and Table Tipping, whilst there were some movements there was not many. During the half hour there seemed to be lots more activity in the way of visual happenings. We had all seen several shadows moving about in different areas the whole time.

03:30hrs. We moved the table into the corridor to try again and the same thing happened very slight movements. Mark had gone to the other areas setting up some cams were we had seen the shadows moving about to try and catch them on tape. After another half hour passed we stopped for a break.

04:00hrs. Break

04:15hrs. We had decided now to spend the last hour sitting in the main bar area with all 3 cams recording to try to catch any of the visual we were witnessing. Despite seeing lots of movement during this hour we don't appear to have caught anything which is disappointing as we had 3 cams to catch this.

05:15hrs. The night ended and we packed up.

FINAL THOUGHT: One very interesting place, there appeared to be a lot of Visual and Audible in the place but the information was sporadic and short.
