IDLE ROAD BRADFORD.
INVESTIGATION
1: FIRST NIGHT.
We started at 01.30hrs. We set up digital voice recorders around
the pub as things have been heard and we where hoping to catch some of them.
As we sat in what was the old snug room observing and waiting to hear anything.
The door in the men's toilets started banging, Mark and Chris went to check
it out and as they entered the cubicle door was moving slightly even though
the window was shut and there was no breeze. After they left and discussed what
just happened the Hand drier switched on and they run back in to have a look.
We decided to place a voice recorder near to it and a sensor alarm. As they
left a second time they both sensed someone behind them and just before they
turned to look Angie said there was a third shadow reflecting on the wall behind
them.
02.00hrs.
We went to the area where the pool table is. Angie said she was aware of a woman
upstairs which Chris had sensed when he moved in but was unsure who she was.
Angie said her name was Hilda but this was was a residual energy and no need
to worry. Angie got an image of her going to the fireplace and poking it. Angie
was also aware of a little boy who worked here and it was his job to fetch more
coal for the fire, he too is a residual energy.
We all sat for a while and commented how the atmosphere in this section was
different to the rest and this is possibly due to there are a few residual energies
in the area. Then Mark noticed a figure move from table towards another as he
did Chris sensed the name James and Angie went over to look and felt this was
him. We asked Chris to call to James as he is not residual and as Chris called
his name we heard two loud knocks.
Angie tells us there is also another spirit present called Margaret who is daughter
of Elizabeth. They lived here once as Angie talks to Margaret we all heard a
whistle but where unable to locate it.
As Angie turned
back towards the Pool table she could see a man sat in the corner asking him
who he was, he replied simply the Major and that he was from the low town! possibly
meaning the lower end of town. Mark could smell boot polish which he found strange
and it led to where the Major was. Suddenly things went quiet and the Major
seemed to be wanting to observe us rather than talk to us.
02.30hrs.
We then heard a males voice coming from near the toilets and we headed towards
them, as we did we could hear two people whispering but where unable to make
any sense of it. Angie heard a man say his name was Joe (she gave a surname
but we are withholding it out of respect, this name would prove interesting
on investigation two when we were joined by someone who knew him). Angie could
again hear the whispering and gave us the names Peter, Mary and Thomas she said
there is a fourth but no name yet, they all have a connection with the cellar.
We decided to sit down and continue with Joe, Angie complained of a pain in
her chest and said she felt Joe had had an heart attack. She continued by saying
he worked in a mill nearby. (This part of town was a mill area at one time).
She said Joe died in the 1990's and he regularly drank here in the pub, just
where we were sat.
Angie became distracted by a lady who entered calling herself Edna she said
she used to wait on in here a long time ago and then continued to walk behind
the bar and ignored us. Then suddenly Angie hears another voice saying
"who are you, who are you" "I'm Jean, who are you"
Angie talks back to her and she asked Angie did she know where the cards were
as she had come for a game. Things became a little hectic and Angie was unable
to keep up with the two women who liked to repeat themselves rather than answer
any questions. We decided to sit for a while longer and things went quiet for
a good twenty minutes. So we decided on a quick break before we proceeded.
03.15hrs Break.
03.40hrs.
Cellar. Ian, Mark and Angie all went to the cellar as the others where tired
after a long day on their feet and Tracey waited with them just in case anything
else happened.
We continued downstairs, Angie felt this was the best place to be and said she
had a link with the three names earlier of Peter, Thomas and Mary and that there
was a fourth she was waiting on coming in. As we stood Angie said there had
been a fire in the place and that these people where all involved. She said
Thomas was burnt mainly down one side and Mary had severe burns to her face.
Although the room was warm anyway I have to admit I could feel that I was burning
up down one side whilst the other side of me was cold. As Angie continued we
all heard what sounded like a young males voice but could not make out what
was said. As Angie described the fire in more detail she got the name Katherine
or Catherine and felt this was the fourth person. Ian said he could feel a child
stood right by him by this time and then we heard a voice again. Both Ian and
Angie felt for some reason the floor in here was much lower and that they felt
the urge to try and get out but not by the door rather a window. They felt as
if they had to climb up and out and that it was due to a fire. Mark wanted to
see what they meant and asked to swap places which they did. He commented that
although his front was cool his back felt like it was against a coal fire and
that the heat was unbelievable. Angie said she could hear them scream and then
we heard what sounded like a scream and maybe the word help. But we could not
be exactly sure as once again it was faint. After a while things went quiet
and Angie said Thomas was a bit of a prankster and has a habit of untying shoelaces.
Mark chuckled and looked at his own feet and noticed his shoelace undone as
he did Ian says he often has one shoelace untied for no known reason. Later
on it was made clear to us by Chris that he constantly has to keep tying the
lace on just one of his shoes.
04.15hrs. Things had gone very quiet so we decided to call it a night and asked could we go back with more of the team which we arranged to do so. Report from Investigation Two is below.
INVESTIGATION
2: SECOND NIGHT.
We
started at 02:00hrs. Mark set up sensor lights around the building and
in the men’s toilets we placed sound monitors and alarms. On the pool table
where there had been experiences of what sounds like the pool balls being broken
as if a game just started, we placed four balls on the table to see if they
would get moved. We also placed emf meters and sound recording devices in different
parts of the pub.
We went to the pool room to start. Tim sat by the speakers from the sound monitors
that where linked to the men’s toilets and Angie sat on the floor by one
end of the pool table Jazz sat at one side whilst Andy sat on the other. Steph
took position between Angie and where Jazz sat, whilst Mark, Chris, Ian, Claire
and Tracey all sat at one table the other end of the table.
After about ten minutes Angie says her hands are stinging, she senses someone
who was hit by a cane. Seconds later both Angie and Chris say they feel like
they want to cry for some reason and feel really upset. Then Angie says she
senses a little boy who is hiding under the pool table, she says it is he who
was hit with the cane. She said she felt he was punished by a mean and angry
headmaster.
Before Angie could say anymore we all heard what sounded like two voices coming
through the sound monitors from the men’s toilets. Mark, Chris and Andy
all ran to the toilets to check it out but found nothing there.
As they returned Angie informs them she has a name for the boy it is Peter.
Chris placed another ball on the floor to try and encourage Peter to move it.
Andy and Tim both thought for a minute they could see some kind of shadow directly
over the ball followed by a blue light. As Chris continued to ask Peter to move
the ball Jazz became very anxious and nervous saying he felt that someone was
behind Andy who gave him the impression he was an angry soul. It lasted only
a short while before the sensation went away.
As the team
continued to watch and observe Angie, Chris and Andy all say they feel very
emotional and feel as if they want to cry. Jazz says he feels as if Peter is
saying "he is coming” Angie
says she then hears him say “Help”.
We all then heard a little voice but sadly no one could make out what was said.
This happened a couple of times. Angie says Peter says he was punished because
he could not do arithmetic and was caned as a punishment. He tells Angie the
headmaster was called Hargraves. It then went quiet for a short while and we
decided to move to the other end of the pub. As we started to walk Angie hears
little Peter again and he says “mind the steps”
Tim informs us that where we are stood at the time the original steps to upstairs
where there. He also tells us that whilst being sat by the sound monitors he
was continuously hearing two voices but they where so faint the could not make
out what was said and that he had been drawn to look at the area we where moving
too and thought several times he had seen someone moving around over there.
03.00hrs.
We sat down and Chris attempted to talk to Joe again. Tim had joined us as he
knew who Joe was and was interested to see what happened at the investigation
he had also experienced one night hearing the pool balls being broke as if a
game had just started. As the team sat Tracey started to feel pains in her chest
as did Ian and Tim. As they where talking Angie placed a glass on a table ready
for some divination later. They all continued to ask for Joe when suddenly both
Chris and Tim witnessed the glass move even though no one was touching it at
the time. Andy moved back towards the pool table as we could hear some noises
and whilst there we again all heard a voice saying “Hello”
Andy turns back and asks us what did we say, thinking it was one of us and then
tells us he heard someone say “Hello”.
We sat a bit
longer when Jazz asked Chris who is sat next to you as he thought he could see
someone there and so did Tim, but no one was directly next to Chris. Chris and
Ian then started to feel pains in their arms and chests and felt as if they
where about to fall forward.
We then after
a few minutes heard what sounded like a scream coming from the toilets followed
by footsteps coming away from there.
Seconds later
Jazz complained he had a sharp pain just above his eye and a throbbing headache
as if he had been stabbed. Tim was also complaining of the same thing at the
same time. Mark looked up at the mirror directly outside the men’s toilets
and saw a reflection in it of someone walking passed it. Jazz admits he had
thought he seen it earlier but was not 100% sure. Jazz then felt someone by
him and Angie says Thomas has joined us again and is watching us. Back where
the rest are sat Chris is saying he can feel someone angry by him and gets the
impression of stabbing someone in the eye. We then all heard a whistle and as
we tried to make sense of where it cam from Jazz jumps and says he heard in
it in his ear as if the person was directly next to him.
Suddenly Steph
felt as though she was being forced down and held really tight and felt all
emotional but could not make out as to why. The feeling continued to come and
go over a period of six minutes.
03.35hrs. Stopped for a break.
04.00hrs. We set up for some glass divination in then same area. Ian, Tim, Chris, Claire, Tracey and Steph all sat at the table, Mark and Jazz where on the cameras Angie stood and observed the team. As Tim knew Joe and knew other locals who knew him they asked some private and personal questions that I will be withholding here. They spent 40 minutes doing this and as they did Angie had seen someone moving near to the pool table yet again and she went to investigate joined by Mark, once there she knew it was Peter who had been watching us and then gone back to his favourite area. Angie asked Peter was he okay and much to Marks surprise they both heard him say very clearly “Yes”.
04.39hrs.
We went into the cellar where we had experienced stuff the first time around.
As we entered we stood very quiet but Time and Claire felt they could not stay
and left along with Tracey who was feeling a little faint. After a few minutes
longer Chris started to giggle and said he felt intoxicated, Jazz and Steph
where also smiling like a pair of Cheshire cats. They all said they felt as
if they had been at a party or something. Chris and Jazz both feeling somewhat
light headed left the room also. Leaving Mark, Angie, Steph, Ian and Andy in
the room. We waited and waited to see if anything happened and as Angie knew
Thomas was with us again we asked out for him when we all heard a voice call
back. Although we all heard it very clear on checking the tapes it sound more
like a squeal. Ian was becoming anxious again feeling as if he needed to climb
out of the place. Angie and Mark where once again feeling as if they where on
fire. Andy felt a little strange like something bad had happened but was unsure
what it was.
Not much more
happened and we left the room at 05.15hrs.
05.30hrs. We decided to bring the investigation to an end.
FINAL THOUGHT: Both nights proved to be very interesting indeed and very fruitful and the hospitality is second to none. Thanks Chris and Claire.
