The Fountain Inn is a 17th Century Inn that has been added to over the years including the Hotel which was once a barn. Present from AGH were Mark, Angie, Steph, Jazz and Mike we were joined by the owners who have asked us to leave off their names will be referred to simply as A and B. We arrived at 11pm to start the Investigation.

We started the Investigation in one of the bedrooms that is allegedly the most haunted room in the hotel. There are two rooms that have had activity this one and the one directly above. As the room above had people staying in we had to be really quiet. The room above is not as active so we were able to concentrate more on this room until the bar was empty of customers.

23:00hrs. As we entered the room Angie said we had been followed in by someone and they were with us, She turns and says she feels lots of people have experienced things in this room and even seen someone. She feels one spirit in this room is tactile (the owners had previously told me one guest awoke to find a man tucking them in). Angie continued with telling us a little girl called Charlotte from the early 1900's was also present but outside the room and she runs up an down (again the owners had told myself guests from this room often complained of hearing children running in the corridor outside). We stood for a while when Angie said there is also an Alice who comes in here, but then her attention is drawn back to the man, he was not happy with Angie paying attention to Alice as he felt she was unimportant as are all women. She called him John and said he was very domineering. He stands next to the bed and then Angie turns to Steph who is stood at the end of the bed and says someone has been seen there too. Mark and Mike have been stood nearest the bed and complain of a feeling of burning up the heat is tremendous. Angie continues to tell us he is the one who is Tactile. Mark asks Angie to ignore John for now and tell us more about Alice, Angie tells us she is sad it appears she lost a child and never got over it, her job was the day to day running of the place but cannot tell us anymore about her. Angie is distracted as she hears a scuffle and says a fight took place here and a policeman was summoned, a dispute over a card game caused the scuffle Angie says Steph is stood in the exact spot, Steph says she feels an unusual tingling in her head and she feels she is sporting a blackened eye and feeling of being strangled.
One of the owners who are present with us (B) says he felt someone touch his hand and says he has gone very cold all down one side. And suddenly it lifted and we all felt a cold rush go by. Angie says it was Thomas he is drawn to owner A and feels comfort from him, Thomas was a bit slow and collected the logs for the fire.
Things went quiet for a short while and Angie spoke to the owners about a bar area saying she feels when you go through there it is like someone is saying Hello to you, both owners say they have experienced this. Suddenly Mark and Mike both saw a shadow below the door as if someone had passed outside, Owner B said that has been happening on and off for five minutes, we waited for it to happen again and Owner B went outside as soon as it did but no one was there. Jazz also witnessed the shadow on this occasion. As we stood back in the room we heard the people upstairs walking around again we had heard them a few times and decided we would leave the room soon so as not to disturb them with our talking. When owner B looks out of the window and seen the people who were staying in the room above.
Angie says Elizabeth was responsible for the movement in the room above and she was a maid as Angie got an image of her wearing it. Again earlier when I interviewed the owners and a member of staff, the member of staff had told me she had seen this.
We were getting ready to leave the room when Angie, Steph, Jazz and Mark along with owner A could all smell body odour and we all felt as if someone passed by us all.

01:00hrs. We moved to the Function room where again some activity has been experienced. We all took up different seats in the room so as to cover the whole room which is very large. Mark started by placing sensor lights around the room. One failed to work and failed to switch off although it was on sensor mode. After moving the lights around to a different area they worked fine but on trying them back in the original place they went funny again. We started having a discussion when some clicking sound could be heard from one corner of the room. Mark went over to see if he could work out what it was, He found that some chairs that were neatly stacked appeared to be moving and put this down to them just settling . On his way back towards the others he noticed through the glass door leading to a reception bar, Someone walk towards the bar, thinking it was the female member of staff back he went through the doors to find no one there. But as he reached the bar he could smell furniture polish. Not aware that at the same time the others back in the function room where also aware of the same smell. It was only when he returned to them that they told him and he explained the same happened to him.
Half an hour had passed when Angie and Mark went into a small storage room in the function room behind the disco set up. As Owner A always felt a dread of fear when he went in there, owner B also dislikes this room. Mark thought it was just because the room felt closed in and it may have been just a subconscious factor, until they went in and Angie instantly became aware of a man standing in one corner. Mark started to feel like he had a nose bleed and could taste blood in his mouth, before he could even say anything Angie looked at him and commented she thought for a moment his nose was bleeding but upon checking it was not. Then Mark jolted forward and said he felt a real sharp stabbing pain in his back. We stayed for a while when Jazz swapped places with Angie joining Mark, he did not stay more than two minutes as he constantly felt he was being given an electric shock.
It was time for Steph and Mike to have a go in the room to see what they felt, they commented the room felt eerie. We were unable to understand or find out who or what was in this small room only that this person in here was happy to be left alone.

02:00hrs. We stopped for a break.

02:30hrs. Time to go to the main bar area where other things have been experienced. (The room is split into two areas, with a further room through a doorway leading to the oldest part of the building). We went into the first area of the bar. Angie said there is a woman at the end of the room and goes to check, Owner A saw some movement in the other area called a VIP area, so Mark asks Jazz and Mike to go and check. Meanwhile Angie starts to talk about a witch trial close by (there was a witches in this area and trials did take place) Angie says some names Alice, Mary, Philomena and Hannah, as she says these names we all heard a Hmm. Mike and Jazz return and say they felt a presence but could not make out what or who.
Angie then picks up on a small girl who is called Jane is being called for by a Womans voice. Angie tells us she died of a broken neck. She said she often stands by a fireplace in another room, then stands up and wanders off to the oldest part of the building and heads straight to a fireplace in there. (The room she had just left has had experiences of someone being seen but no one had been able to make out what it was).

02:50hrs. Once by the fireplace Angie feels the girl was murdered, she felt her neck was broken and this was kept hushed up, the girl is of lower class and so wouldn't be missed by anyone, Angie is unable to get anymore with this and is frustrated by it. Mark started to walk towards another part of the room when he saw a reflection on a wall behind the bar, as he did Jazz who had his back towards the bar turned and looked as he heard someone moving behind the bar. He said he could hear the footsteps. We went to have a look around but could find nothing to explain it as everyone else had been sat during this.
Angie walked towards the owners and asked did they feel anything Owner B says he was nudged in his side but no one was close enough to have done this. Angie says it was a man that went to their table and placed to Tankards down as a way of saying well done for what they have done in there. The man told Angie it was Mead. (Mead is an alcoholic beverage, made from honey and water via fermentation with yeast. Its alcoholic content may range from that of a mild ale to that of a strong wine). We stayed in the area for a good while longer but nothing else happened so left the room.

03:30hrs. We went to the VIP area to see if anything would happen or could be sensed. The reason being is there is a story of a photographer from a nearby newspaper office allegedly took a picture of a couple standing by a mirror and the photo is said to have captured the reflection of a man standing by the bar who was not there at the time, the photo is known as 'The Man In The Mirror'. Although I have been unable to track this story down and have contacted the newspaper in Question and have not had a reply as yet.
I had the team spend some time in the area and they did not find anything except for saying they felt people may see reflections in the mirror of people who are not in the room!

04:00hrs. The investigation ended.

FINAL THOUGHT: The Inn was very interesting throughout the investigation. The bedroom we investigated seemed to be the most active area. And I would feel most of what happens in the other areas are short sporadic happenings but interesting still. I enjoyed this investigation and the owners were Great and very pleasant.
