Read below the equipment we use on our investigations, with a brief explanation for each, we have tried to explain them in a non scientific way for you to better understand them.
CAMCORDERS & CCTV
CAMERAS:
we use camcorders with nightvision capabilities which means we can use them
in complete darkness, the purpose for using them is to hopefully catch the presence
on tape, they are also for locked off rooms to detect activity in a room when
we are not present, our cctv cameras also have nightvision capabilities. We
also use a wide range of tripods in many sizes allowing us to leave them in
a room whilst recording.
EMF METERS & NEGATIVE ION
DETECTOR:
they have displays on them and when a ghost or spirit is present the needle
on the counter moves, or a light up display showing the amount of EMF present,
each light represents 5mgs, the stronger the presence the higher the reading
is, some meters also have sound such as the sapphire which has a built in piezo
speaker with white noise. This is to allow spirit communication and hopefully
aid in the capture of EVP's.
CAMERAS:
cameras are used when the medium senses a presence in the room to try catch
them on photograph.
DIGITAL
CAMERA: ideal
for uploading pictures to the Internet and saving on costs, downside is no negatives
for authenticity of pictures which seem to have caught something paranormal.
35mm CAMERA:
ideal as you have negatives
to back up any picture that looks to have ghostly effects, downside is the costs,
price of film and development.
THERMOMETERS:
we use thermometers because it is often reported that when there is a presence,
room temp's dip dramatically and sometimes a room can be warm except for one
spot, we can then record this using them.
NON-CONTACT
INFRARED: we use the thermometer with point and shoot ability using a laser
beam, its range is minus30 to +550
WIRELESS INDOOR OUTDOOR: we also use this hi-tech thermometer measures
and displays both the indoor temperature (0°C to 50°C) and the outdoor
temperature (-10°C to 50°C) using a wireless external sensor which operates
on 433MHz. The sensor range is approximately 30m (100ft).
MORE EQUIPMENT:
we also have mobile radios, torches.
MOBILE RADIOS: these are needed if more than one group are at the location
to allow everyone to keep in constant contact, especially if one group is experiencing
more than the other or if there is an emergency of some sort i.e an accident
or fire.
TORCHES: again
a very important tool when on location you are there of a night it's dark you
will come across obstacles, stairwells and such, you need to avoid accidents
at all costs, they are also very important if someone claims to see a ghost
further away so you can see almost straight away.
TRIGGER OBJECT EQUIPMENT:
another way to try and detect a presence in a building or property, we try to
get the voice of the presence on tape or try to get them to move objects for
us. The list can be endless as to what can be used.
BEAM
BARRIERS: these are the same as infra red detectors you have in the home,
they set off an alarm when the beam between the two is broken.
CHALK
AND BOARD: place a piece of chalk by the board in a locked off area to see
if spirit leave a message on it, also you can use a pen and paper.
OTHER
OBJECTS : coins draw around coins on paper to see if they get moved. Bells
tied to string to see if they move and ring, usually it is best to use an object
belonging to the property to see if it moves.
VOICE
RECORDERS/DICTAPHONES:
we use digital and cassette type of recorders, used in rooms were ghosts are
believed to have been seen, they are left on record for short periods for the
use of E.V.P's (electronic voice phenomena).
EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT:
a mobile phone should always be carried in order to contact the emergency servives.
Also a full first aid kit should always be handy, and at least one team member
should be first aid trained.
