This investigation was arranged by Crystal Serenades and was headed by Ghost-UK
and Crystal Serenades. Abbeyghosthunters members Angie and Mark where invited
along as associate members to ghost-UK website, this means we don't work for
Ghosts-UK but as members are given the privilege to go along to some of their
investigations this was our second with them. Ghost-UK are the biggest Paranormal
Investigation group in England and like to work with smaller groups like ourselves.
Carew Castle in Wales. It dates roughly to 1100 to the late 1500's Archaeologists
found remains on the site believed to prove Carew was once a base for the Celtic
rulers of the dark ages.
The castle also has a tidal mill which is still intact and used as a museum.
Carew has reports of over 20 ghosts and is probably Wales most notorious haunted
Castle and has even appeared on TV show Castle Ghosts and also on vhs video
Ghost Stories.
For the investigation we were split into two groups, we were in group B along
with George, T, Kelly (Crystal Serenades), K2 and D.
also present for the night were three local newspaper reporters, and castle
worker Theresa.
We used the following equipment 2 Sony nightshot handycams, Polaroid digital
camera, 35mm camera and Canon powershot digital camera.
21:30 both groups made their way to the tidal mill.
21:50 our team made their way back to the castle.
22:45 we made our way into the kitchen, in here some dried herbs were on the
fireplace as a display piece, George had noticed the herbs were moving, we had
to rule out draughts being the cause as only one draught could be found and
was not blowing in the direction of the herbs, plus the herbs were all moving
in different directions.
22:55 Angie caught an orb on camcorder and George felt a strong presence in
the room.
23:10 Angie felt an urge to go to the room adjacent to the kitchen and caught
more moving orbs on camcorder.
23:15 a seance led by T of G-UK was started.
23:25 the seance was interrupted as camcorder 2 switched off due to sudden battery
drain, it was then replaced with a new battery.
23:30 the seance was restarted and an authentic cup was placed on the table
by T.
23:40 the seance was complete, during which everyone in the room except Mark
could smell a strong smell of dried herbs.
23:41 George could smell t-leaves whilst other members could smell a spiced
type of smell like curry.
23:43 the group went outside to see if we could find the origin of the smells.
We left both camcorders in the kitchen recording. We did find an aromatic garden
roughly 50-60 yards away with a twelve foot high wall between them and the wind
blowing in the opposite direction and nothing in the garden which matched the
smell, we ruled this out as the cause of the smells.
00:45 we went back to the kitchen to check on the camcorders and camcorder 1
was switched off, (if a tape comes to the end the camcorder goes on standby
however this camcorder had physically been switched off). on replaying the tapes
back from both camcorders cam 2 shows cam 1 going off, prior to this footsteps
can be heard, as there were so many of us in the castle and sound travels we
cannot be sure who's footsteps these are.
01:15 George felt like he was someone who had been burned at the stake, this
is common to get strange feelings on locations.
02:08 both teams joined together to watch a Dowsing experiment.
IN CONCLUSION.
This location would be very interesting for a second investigation.
No ghosts were seen, some strange smells during seance and the dowsing proved
very interesting.
