The Chris Bell Charity Ghost Hunt

at Cleveland Ironstone Mine

On September the 10th Mr. Chris Bell a presenter for Yorkshire Coast Radio, was sponsored to attend an investigation at the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum, to raise money for The Macmillan Cancer Relief. The Investigation.

WE ARRIVED AT 21.45 PRESENT FROM THE MINE WERE JOAN, MARGARET, PAUL AND MAURICE, PRESENT FROM AGH WERE ANGIE, MARK, TRACEY, WAYNE & MEMBERS SHAUN AND ANDREA ALSO PRESENT WAS GUEST OF HONOUR CHRIS BELL A PRESENTER FOR YORKSHIRE COAST RADIO.

21.50hrs We set up cam 2 below the gift shop and at 22.00 we set up cam 1 in the ambulance drift.

22.05hrs We started in the sound room Angie explained to Chris about scrying, and then he sat to attempt scrying himself using a scrying mirror. He sat for a while and looked into the mirror his first impression was that his eyes faded and the sockets seemed dark, after a short period Chris thought his reflection had winked at him, he concentrated once again and felt as though someone was stood to his left slightly behind him, Angie gave him a name of a relative (as this is private we will not place this information on here) after another short period Chris felt like he wanted to laugh but didn't know why, we then asked for spirit to allow us to here their voice, much to everyone's surprise we did hear what seemed to be a child's voice, after another five minutes we ended the scrying experiment at 22.25hrs. Angie spoke to Chris further about the experiment for some time.

22.42hrs We entered the ventilation shaft and gave an explanation on glass divination (placing fingers on a glass in an attempt for spirit to move it) stood at the table with their fingers on the glass were Chris, Joan, Margaret, Paul, Tracey and Andrea, at this point Angie gave the names Albert Wright and John, Dennis and William. Wayne got the name Johnny. As usual we asked spirit questions, if their reply was yes to move the glass and if no to leave the glass still. What happened then was a relative for someone present came through and responded for a while. During which a door swung open.

23.22 We set up the beam barriers halfway up the shaft as members of the group felt there was a presence in that area and we had hoped he would come closer triggering the alarms

23.25hrs We decided to now try table tilting, at the table was Chris, Angie, Tracey, Joan, Margaret, Paul and Andrea. As above with glass divination we ask the spirits to answer our questions, for yes to try and make the table move, for no to leave the table still.

Is there anyone happy to communicate -- at this point Wayne was attacked by a woodwasp
Chris called out for the spirit to communicate -- a relative of someone present came through
Chris asked him was this his name -- a tapping sound was heard on the table
after several questions the table did raise off the floor in response to asking the spirit to do so

23.36hrs We stopped for a break, as we were leaving the N.I.D bleeped twice

00.28hrs We went to the sound room and attempted table tipping again, at the table were Chris, Paul, Maurice and Shaun, the names Thomas and James are given and within four minutes we could hear what sounded like footsteps.

Thomas can you please move the table -- yes
did you work here -- yes
(James comes in) did you work here James -- yes
are you alone here now -- no
is someone with you -- yes
then at 00.41 a tapping sound is heard and the table starts to move in a circle
a noise is heard in the next room at 00.42 Mark and Andrea go to check we are able to rule out the noise as we found dripping water we reentered the room at 00.43
00.46 we had a change around Chris and Paul left the table and in their place were Joan and Margaret
we discussed the noises heard and were happy to rule these out
restarted at 00.52hrs
can you please move the table -- yes
the table started to shudder and Angie senses four spirits in the room,the other two were both called William there is also a child present
is there a William here -- yes
(for confirmation purposes) are you a female -- No, the table stopped moving
are you a male -- yes
did you work here -- yes
were you a carpenter here -- yes
William stepped back as he had brought the child forward to communicate
at 01.06hrs Chris now sat on a bench felt a coldness to his right Angie says Edward and Chris says Teddy, Chris calls out Edward each time he does so Mark could hear a childlike voice but is unable to make out what is being said Andrea also hears the voice, again Chris calls out Edward and the table lifted on one side

are you happy to communicate -- yes
is that you Edward -- no
James -- yes
did you enjoy it here -- no
did you hate it here -- no but a knock on the table is heard
did you knock on the table -- yes the knock is heard again
Chris calls out Teddy are you in trouble as Angie sensed he was scared he may be in trouble if he tries to communicate after reassurance Teddy comes to the table
is there anyone called Wilson -- yes
is that your name Teddy --yes
is that you Teddy -- yes
are you Teddy Jones -- no
are you Teddy Johnson -- no just then a Mr. Wilson comes in
is Mr. Wilson here now -- yes
was he the blacksmith -- yes
were you the stable boy -- yes
did you work with the horses -- yes
is Mr. Wilson with you Teddy -- yes
Mr. Wilson was Teddy a stable boy -- yes
so did Teddy work with the horses -- yes
was he a horse leader -- yes
Teddy did you lead the horses -- yes
were you proud of them -- yes
did you love them -- yes
are you still with them -- yes
are you still with them now -- yes
Teddy could you stop the table moving -- the table stopped
did you look after less than 6 -- no
more than 10 -- no
we were then informed horse leaders had one horse but could have used a different one each day
are you still here Teddy -- no response

01.40 we stopped for a break and discussed the events that had happened

02.10 - 02.15hrs fresh tapes placed in cams 1 and 2

02.20hrs We went to the North drift, we walked down to the bottom and switched out the lights then sat and talked during which a strange light was seen behind Mark, everyone heard a whistle and some other sounds were heard which we were unable to locate the source, we left at 02.47hrs

03.00hrs We went back to the ventilation shaft to do a seance (which entails standing in a circle joining hands and calling out as confirmation to our questions we ask for a knock as a yes) everyone but Mark stood in the circle as he was on the camera, Chris done the calling out

if anyone's here can you please make a tapping -- a tapping sound was heard then followed by what sounded like something being dragged around
(Chris calls out for Teddy) can you knock for us -- yes a knock
are you proud of your horses -- yes a knock
we asked if anyone else was there -- no
at 03.15hrs I had to change the battery on the camcorder as it drained although it was freshly put in at 03.00hrs although it was very cold here at the time, we moved further up the drift and restarted.
Chris tries again to call for Teddy and we hear footsteps
Teddy did you use a sprag (type of tool) -- we all heard a small voice call out YEAH
can you see the sprag -- a knock was heard
is this the sprag (lay on the floor) -- yes a knock
did you use it -- no response
Teddy can you please knock twice -- two knocks are heard
did you use the sprag -- no response
then a small blue light was seen
we stopped at 03.36hrs when no more responses were made

03.40hrs a small break while we set up below the gift shop for table tilting

04.00hrs at the table were Chris, Angie, Shaun and Andrea, Table tilting

is anyone here -- yes table moves
Jarvis are you here -- no response (Jarvis was met here last time we visited)
is it Teddy -- no
is it William -- no
is someone else here -- yes
is it Jimmy -- no
James -- yes
can we call you Jimmy -- no
should we call you James -- yes
are you alone here -- no
we followed with several questions but got no responses
we had to once again change the cam battery which lasted 20 minutes, but it was warmer here
is there anyone who would like to communicate -- yes
have we spoke to you today -- no
are you John -- no
(Shaun got the name Malcolm) Malcolm -- yes
a couple more questions were asked and things didn't seem to add up

04.42hrs Angie senses a man of authority is near we switched to using the glass involved was Angie, Chris, Shaun and Andrea, Angie asks the spirit to answer the questions with a yes or no, he wanted to show us his role.

a carbide lamp -- no
an officials lamp -- yes
were you a deputy -- yes
did you use a deputies stick (this was used to tap the walls to check they were OK) -- yes
did you pass here -- yes
was it an accident -- yes
we couldn't establish what was the accident or name of the deputy
did you have a family -- yes
did you have two children --yes
did your wife work here -- no
did your children work here -- yes
did you like it here -- no
Chris asks was your son Edward -- no
did you work here all your life -- yes
then followed several questions to which no response was made

04.46 we stopped to have a discussion about the nights events and then called it a night at 05.00hrs

FINAL THOUGHT: a good night was had by all, we would like to thank all the staff at the mine and Chris Bell for accepting the challenge to raise money for a great cause.
